The Codr.Eu Podcast

Myself, Phil Sturgeon and Adam Griffiths will be doing a podcast within the next few weeks, just to push out some content. We’ll also be looking to interview people, our main focus will be coding with CodeIgniter though. The point of the Podcast is for people to submit questions and have us answer them also for ourselves to give you guys updates on what’s going on within the coding world, so you could say coding news too. Also little tips and tricks (I’m sure Phil will rant on about his REST implementations alot ) anyway, just thought I would let you all know that there will be a podcast soon, and possibly! A new design for Codr when I get around to it… It’ll probably be Blue and Black like my current layout, but more tutorial site based

Drop Down Menu Added…

After many attempts with trying to get a sub category menu to work i’ve decided to just have a Drop Down Menu instead of the sub nav bar content. Instead the subnav will hold the RSS Feed Urls and thats it. It has took me quite a few attempts to get it right, it’s not using the PixoPoint Multi-Level Navigation Plugin because I don’t really like it. Instead i’ve imported a menu.js file which I’ve found randomly, and just used the

< ?php wp_list_categories(); ?>

function.

Anyway that’s about it from me it was just a quick update. Comments will be coming soon I promise!

Welcome

First off, I’d like to say welcome to Codr it is finally open. Although it is a little bit buggy so please bare with me as I still haven’t coded up majority of the Wordpress Templates (e.g. Comments.)

Problems

Today has been a really hectic day where my internet is concerned as I’ve been rushing to get the website launched for 3pm this afternoon (GMT) on top of this my Internet kept going down so I had to phone my Internet Service Provider to resolve the problem it appears that there is something wrong with my router so they’re doing a line test for 24 hours, within this 24 hours I can’t login to my Router Administration Panel because they’ve locked me out on their side. Anyway that is beyond the scope of this post.

As the title states, Codr is looking for talented Web Developers to post high quality tutorials / screencasts on various subjects such as PHP, Javascript, HTML & CSS, Ruby on Rails, etcetera. Every post will get checked by me and the editors before it actually goes live. If you’re interested in writing for us then please write to: webmaster [at] paulchater.co.uk with the subject line of “Writer / Editor Application”. Also include within the application your Full First and Last names, a username you want to login with, a password and finally your email address.

Yes, that’s right the layout will be up by Monday, Tuesday at the latest. I’ve been up all night slicing the images, coding the html markup (which may I add is Valid HTML5 ) and also I’ve done half of the CSS. It is all working perfectly within Internet Explorer 7, 8 also Firefox, Safari and Chrome. I must say, I will never ever ever support Internet Explorer 6. For me, it’s obsolete and is a useless browser. Same goes for Opera, I’ll never support it because OPERA SUCKS! I’m sorry but it does.

Anyway back to coding the layout, maybe have a cigarette / coffee break.

Welcome to Codr. The latest website created by Paul Chater that offers high quality tutorials and screencasts. For FREE!
